Description
Ravilious had left Scapa Flow in HMS Highlander as escort to HMS Glorious. The fall of France in 1940 had left the Norwegian campaign irrelevant, 'Glorious' was to evacuate allied forces as a matter of urgency. On the return journey 'Glorious' and the destroyers 'Acasta' and 'Ardent' were sunk by 'Scharnhorst' and 'Gneisenau'. An evocative scene.
