Description
Eric Ravilious (1903-1942) was an English painter, designer, book illustrator and wood engraver. He grew up in Sussex, and is particularly known for his watercolours of the South Downs. He was commissioned as a war artist, and died when his aircraft was lost off Iceland.
This is a view of the Royal Naval Air Station at Dundee, Scotland, in 1941. The base was officially known as 'Condor II' and served as a training area for Supermarine 'Walrus' flying boats.
