This was the second of three contests between two legends of the ring. It was a non-title match held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on January 28, 1974 between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. Ali was a slight favorite to win, and did so by a unanimous decision.
Staged in between their two World Heavyweight title bouts (the co-called 'Fight of the Century' in 1971 and the 'Thrilla in Manila' in 1975), it was promoted as Super Fight II.
Considered by many to be the least significant of their rivalry, Ali wanted to avenge his loss to Frazier in their first fight, and hoped a world title challenge against Champion George Foreman would result. Ali's wishes came true at the 'Rumble in the Jungle' in October 1974.
This is my T-shirt homage to those heady days.
